INFO

Since 2008 Guy Michael Davis and Katie Parker have been collaborating together under the name Future Retrieval, mining archives and museums to digitally collect and make objects that re-examine the history of decorative arts. Their process addresses the conceptualization, discovery, and acquisition of form, to make content-loaded sculptures that reference design and are held together by craft. They incorporate an interdisciplinary approach to their work, striving to make influential historic objects relevant to today.

Katie Parker and Guy Michael Davis currently reside in Scottsdale, Arizona. Parker is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Art at Arizona State University. They both received their MFA from The Ohio State University and BFA from Kansas City Art Institute, MO. Their most recent solo exhibitions include Crystal-Walled Seas at Denny Gallery (2022), Close Parallel at the Cincinnati Art Museum (2021), Permanent Spectacle at Denny Gallery (2017) and the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, MA (2017). Their work is held in numerous collections such as Arizona State University Ceramics Research Center (Tempe, AR), Cincinnati Art Museum (Cincinnati, OH), 21C Museum/Hotel (Durham, NC), Society of Dresden Porcelain Art (Frietal, Germany), and The Pottery Workshop (Jingdezhen, China). They are the recipients of prestigious awards and residencies such as the Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship, IASPIS, and Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts Residency.
